At the Elite Facial Plastic Surgery, we offer BOTOX® Cosmetic to Tampa, Florida residents. BOTOX is a treatment designed to temporarily inhibit the muscles that lead to wrinkles and fine lines. While many women and men have heard about this non-surgical treatment, several have questions about the product. Below are a list of frequently asked questions and answers:
What can BOTOX do for me?
BOTOX ® can smooth fine lines and wrinkles including crow’s feet, forehead lines, furrows between the brows, and lines around the mouth as well as raising the brows and reducing sweating in the underarms.
How does it work?
BOTOX blocks the nerve impulse to the muscle, causing it to relax. This prevents the contractions which cause lines and wrinkles, thereby smoothing the skin.
Is BOTOX safe?
Yes. BOTOX has been used safely for over 20 years, and has been approved by the FDA for cosmetic treatments.
Does BOTOX have other uses?
Yes. BOTOX can help relieve migraines and chronic headaches and can reduce excessive sweating.
How long do the results last?
About 3 to 5 months, although repeat treatments may last longer. The treatment itself takes only a few minutes to perform and starts to take effect in about three to five days.
What are the side effects?
You may experience slight discomfort from the tiny needle used for the injections, and a few patients have some minimal bruising. On rare occasion BOTOX can unintentionally weaken an adjacent muscle such as causing an eyelid to droop. These effects are temporary.
