What Does Rhinoplasty Do?
The most common reason for a rhinoplasty is low self-esteem or insecurities that result from an unwanted nose shape. Middle Eastern rhinoplasty involves reshaping/restructuring the nose to remedy these unwanted nose shapes and enhance your facial harmony, resulting in a confidence boost.
Below are some of the most common issues that rhinoplasty can address.
- Adjusting the size of your nose
- Fixing a dorsal hump
- Realigning a crooked nose
- Creating a better facial balance
- Reducing the size of your nasal tip
- Reshaping your nostrils
Before & After
Types of Middle Eastern Nose Jobs
As mentioned above, a Middle Eastern Rhinoplasty resolves many different cosmetic concerns. During a complimentary consultation at Elite Facial Plastic Surgery, we discuss your specific nasal concerns and how a rhinoplasty, personalized to your nose, can help. Below, we’ll outline the most common nose shapes and types of Middle Eastern rhinoplasty that we offer at our Tampa clinic.
Dorsal Hump Reduction
A dorsal hump is a bump on the bridge of the nose that’s due to cartilage or bone irregularities. This type of Middle Eastern nose job is one of the most common procedures, which means that Dr. Dominic has years of experience providing dorsal hump reduction.
Dorsal hump reductions involve sanding down the cartilage and bone to make the nasal bridge smooth and straight. It could also require Dr. Dominic to remove a piece of the cartilage to achieve your desired cosmetic goals.
Plunging Tip Rhinoplasty
A plunging tip is when your nasal tip drops or “plunges” or “ptotic” appearance when you smile. However, your nose may look droopy even when your face is relaxed. This type of Middle Eastern rhinoplasty involves supporting the nasal tip and cartilages to reorient the nasal tip. This gives support higher in the nose to reduce the droopiness of your nasal tip. Dr. Dominic may also need to reconstruct the shape of your nasal tip for best results.
Wide Nose Rhinoplasty
Your nose is considered wide if it extends further than the distance between your eyes. To reduce the size/width of your nose, we’ll conduct what’s called a tip plasty, which involves reshaping the cartilage of the nasal tip. If the bridge of your nose is wide, we’ll straighten, restructure, or adjust its angle, so it appears more narrow during a wide nose rhinoplasty.
Bulbous Tip Nose Job
A bulbous nose is marked by a round, enlarged nasal tip. Your nose may appear bulbous due to weak or poorly defined cartilage or thick skin. In a Middle Eastern rhinoplasty, our plastic surgeon may remove cartilage and adjust the shape of the nasal tip, or he may add cartilage if you have thick skin. Removing cartilage with thick skin will only make the nose lose its definition. While it may feel backward to add to your nose, additional cartilage will provide the structure that’s lacking.
Middle Eastern Rhinoplasty Techniques
No matter which Middle Eastern rhinoplasty you need to transform your appearance, each type involves one of two procedures: open vs. closed rhinoplasty. The difference between the two lies in the incisions and the surgeon’s visibility. Below we’ll break down each one so you can better understand which is right for you cosmetic goals.
Open Rhinoplasty
An open rhinoplasty involves two incisions inside the nose and an incision on the columella, the skin between the nostrils. This exterior incision is necessary to provide further access and visibility for your facial plastic surgeon. Because of the added visibility, open rhinoplasty is best for Middle Eastern nose jobs that require more extensive reconstruction.
Closed Rhinoplasty
A closed rhinoplasty only requires incisions within the nostrils. While this prevents any visible scarring, it restricts how much your plastic surgeon can do. This type of Middle Eastern rhinoplasty is best for less extensive nose jobs.
Middle Eastern Rhinoplasty Recovery
No two Middle Eastern noses or rhinoplasties are the same. This means that nose job recovery will look different for everyone and often depends on the extensiveness of your procedure. However, there are general swelling and recovery stages that are similar for everyone.
During the first week following your Middle Eastern rhinoplasty, you’ll experience some swelling and discomfort. Your nose will be in a splint, and you’ll need to stay home to rest. By the second week, your nose will already begin healing, and the swelling should begin to subside. Dr. Dominic will remove the bandages from your nose, and you’ll be able to return to work at your own discretion. The swelling will continue to subside in the following months, but it could take up to a year for residual swelling in the nasal tip to resolve.
Results
The results of your Middle Eastern nose job are permanent. They won’t change overtime which means if you had a wide nose or a dorsal hump, your nose won’t reverse to its original shape. As your nose heals, you’ll be able to see more and more results. This means you can start seeing the new shape of your nose as early as the second week, but it could take up to a full year to see your final results.
Combined Procedures
Rhinoplasty and Facelift
It’s common for our Middle Eastern rhinoplasty patients to combine their nose job with a facelift. This cosmetic procedure lifts and tightens the face to remove years from your appearance for a new, youthful glow. In combination, rhinoplasty and a facelift can create a strong balance between your features for an improved aesthetic.
Rhinoplasty and Chin Implants
The nose and chin are two of the most prominent facial features. However, when they are irregular in size or shape, they can draw too much attention that’s unwanted. By combining a rhinoplasty and chin augmentation, you’ll create harmony between all your facial features for enhanced beauty.
