Tips to Minimize Scarring

So, things that you can do to help get the best result from an incision standpoint and prevent scarring:

First and foremost, if you smoke, you have to stop smoking leading up to the procedure and post-procedure.

That’s very important.

The second thing you need to do is clean the incision lines with a small amount of peroxide, being very gentle with the area and applying a small amount of ointment to the area.

The third thing you can do is avoid direct sunlight while it’s initially healing and those sutures are in place.

And the next thing that’s very important is to follow up with your surgeon as advised to get the sutures removed in a timely fashion.

What really applies to people in warmer climates is you got to stay out of the pool and certainly the ocean, especially for patients here in Florida.
