Rhinoplasty and Chin Implant: The Secret to Facial Harmony

A What I want to talk to you about is combination procedures. The one in particular that I want to focus on is doing a rhinoplasty with a chin augmentation. The reason why is that the nose and the chin have to be in harmony for things to look aesthetically pleasing. By no means do you have to do this, but it’s just something I want you to think about if you’re thinking about a rhinoplasty.

Facial Harmony between

Oftentimes, I have patients who come in and feel like their nose is, quote, “too big” for their face. In actuality, what it is is their chin is not projecting enough, and so what ends up happening is the nose looks out of proportion to the chin.

Oftentimes, when you augment the chin with what’s called a silicone implant and you address the nose at the same time, it can put the two in harmony and make a profound difference.

Simultaneous Recovery and Downtime

Now, when doing this, patients may be a little bit intimidated or scared of doing two procedures. The beauty of doing a chin augmentation with a rhinoplasty is that you’re recovering at the same time.

As you will see in some of my other articles, with a rhinoplasty, you’re normally looking to have a splint on your nose for five to seven days. With a chin augmentation, you’re normally having tape on there for about three days, and your sutures come out at a week, just like they do with a rhinoplasty.

So, you can certainly get them done at the same time. It doesn’t add to the downtime, and normally the bruising is pretty comparable.

Let’s Look at Your Profile Together

I hope this shed some light on combining procedures and also the importance of trying to get harmony between the nose and the chin. If you have any questions or if you have any experience with this and you want us to answer, feel free to leave a comment or contact us.
