The market for dermal fillers, an injectable treatment used to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles, has exploded in recent years. In 2024, the global dermal filler market size was estimated at around $6.78 billion USD, and is expected to reach $12.79 billion by 2032.
The growing interest in non-invasive facial aesthetic procedures has skyrocketed the popularity of dermal fillers. Below, you will find an in-depth analysis of the 2025 dermal filler market statistics.
Rise in Non-Invasive Surgical Procedures
Growing awareness regarding early skin aging and facial aesthetic treatments has created a sharp increase in non-invasive surgical procedures in recent years. In addition to dermal filler products having a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.25% in the next ten years, the popularity of Botox injections has increased nearly 800% between 2000 and 2020.
While the growing geriatric population is certainly contributing to the rise in the dermal fillers market, patients in their 40s make up more than a quarter of the total number of filler recipients.
Which Dermal Fillers Are Most Popular?
There are several types of dermal fillers available on the market. Based on a client’s age, skin type, and desire for permanent results, they can choose between five injectable solutions. Popular treatment options include hyaluronic acid fillers, Radiesse, and Sculptra.
Hyaluronic Acid Treatments
Of the available dermal fillers on the market, hyaluronic acid treatments are the most sought after. HA-based treatments account for nearly $4 billion of the $5.5 billion 2022 filler market.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring substance found within the body. As you age, the production of hyaluronic acid decreases, leading to wrinkles, fine lines, and a reduction in skin elasticity. When injected, hyaluronic acid can improve the appearance of scars and wrinkles and smooth the overall surface of the skin.
The results of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers typically last anywhere from 6 to 12 months. There are several FDA-approved brands of HA-based fillers, with some of the most popular names being Belotero Balance, Juvederm Ultra, and Restylane.
Belotero Balance
Belotero Balance is a brand of hyaluronic acid filler popularly used in wrinkle correction treatment. The unique manufacturing process for Belotero Balance yields a soft and cohesive gel that, once injected, instantly fills the skin to help smooth moderate-to-severe etched-in lines and wrinkles in the lower face.
This brand of filler is preferred by cosmetic and plastic surgeons to treat vertical lip lines but is versatile enough to reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds, smile lines, and more.
Juvederm Ultra
Juvederm Ultra is one of several hyaluronic acid treatments under the Juvederm umbrella. This is one of the most popular dermal filler options for patients with thinning lips. It is a thinner substance than some of Juvederm’s other dermal fillers and is primarily used to plump lips, fill lip lines, and create lip definition.
Juvederm Ultra is recommended for patients over the age of 21, and results can last up to one year with optimal treatment.
Restylane
Restylane is another frequently-used hyaluronic acid filler. This type of filler is commonly used to reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds or smile lines, Marionette lines, and creases in the corners of the mouth. Restylane is also used to enhance upper and lower lips in patients over 21.
Depending on the injection area, results from Restylane can be seen up to 18 months after the initial treatment.
Radiesse Treatments
Radiesse is the brand name for calcium hydroxylapatite dermal fillers, or CaHA. Similar to hyaluronic acid, CaHA is a naturally-occurring substance in the human body. Radiesse is the only FDA-approved brand of CaHA filler and is typically used for deeper lines and wrinkles.
The consistency of Radiesse is thicker than that of HA fillers and tends to last longer, typically around one year. It has also been reported to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production (Source: ABCS).
Sculptra Treatments
Sculptra is a brand of biocompatible synthetic substance known as Poly-L-lactic Acid, or PLLA. Prior to its development as an injectable filler, PLLA was used medically as the chemical used in dissolvable stitches.
Unlike other dermal fillers, Sculptra is classified as a collagen stimulator, meaning that when injected, it will continue to help your skin naturally produce collagen in addition to filling lines and wrinkles.
While patients will see more gradual results with Sculptra compared to other dermal fillers, results can last up to two years (Source: ABCS).
Who Gets The Most Dermal Fillers?
In 2024, the female demographic dominated the market for dermal fillers, accounting for 97% of all HA-based treatments and 89% of all non-HA treatments. This trend is largely driven by greater cultural acceptance, aesthetic expectations, and targeted marketing of cosmetic treatments toward women.
What’s the Average Age People Get Dermal Fillers?
While most dermal filler options are FDA-approved for patients over the age of 21, the majority of patients receiving dermal fillers are between 40 and 54.
Here’s how HA-based dermal filler treatments break down by age group as of 2024:
- Age 19 and under: 1%
- Age 20-29: 3%
- Age 30-39: 11%
- Age 40-54: 50%
- Age 55-69: 35%
How Much Do Dermal Fillers Cost Per Unit in 2025?
The total cost of dermal fillers will vary based on the type of filler used and the medical professional administering it. Below, you will find the average cost per syringe for the dermal filer brands listed above. Many patients will require multiple syringe injections to achieve their desired results.
- Calcium hydroxylapatite (e.g., Radiesse): $717
- Hyaluronic acid: $500-$1,000
- Polylactic acid (e.g., Sculptra): $700-$1,200
Which Service Providers Offer the Most Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers must be safely administered by a doctor, nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant, or other medical professional that has received the proper training and certifications to administer cosmetic injectables.
In 2021, it was most common for patients to receive dermal filler treatment in hospitals and dermatology clinics (Source: AMR).
Medical Spas
Medspas generated the highest revenue in the global dermal filler market in 2024, holding the largest revenue share at 48.7%.
Cosmetic Surgery Clinics
While not as popular as medspas, cosmetic surgery clinics are the second most common location for patients to receive dermal fillers.
What’s the Total Market Value of Dermal Fillers?
As of 2024, the average dermal filler market report estimates the total market value of dermal fillers at $6.78 billion USD globally. It is projected that the dermal filler industry will grow at more than 10.9% CAGR from 2023 to 2032, with the expected market value reaching $20.21 billion USD by 2037.
The increasing interest in non-invasive surgical alternatives, a rise in the number of facilities offering dermal fillers, and the growing elderly population all contribute to the high growth projection of dermal fillers.
